Pets

Pets (usually dogs or cats) may be on-site during Dystopia Rising Maryland games. The groundskeeper of our site has dogs which may be present in the area and are not generally leashed.

Players may bring pets with them, but must be approved on a case-by-case basis. An email for approval containing proof of current rabies vaccination should be sent at least 7 days prior to the game date to community@dystopiarisingmaryland.com. If a player arrives with a pet who has not been approved to attend, they may be asked to leave the site. Any pet owner found in violation of any of the below requirements may be asked to leave without guarantee of refund.

• Pets must be supervised at all times. This is the responsibility of the pet owner. 

• The supervisor of the pet must wear an orange headband.

• The pet must remain on a leash or behind closed doors for the duration of the event. 

• After sundown, the pet should wear a reflective collar, harness, etc. to ensure they are properly visible to staff and other players.

• The supervisor of the pet must clean up after the pet.

• If combat begins around the pet, the supervisor should move Out of Game to an area away from the combat. The supervisor can hand off the pet to someone who volunteers to become the supervisor OR return to their cabin or other designated safe area for the remainder of said combat.

• Pets should be kept out of high-combat areas whenever possible.

• If anyone feels uncomfortable around the pet, the supervisor of the pet must go elsewhere with the pet.

• Locations where pets are absolutely not allowed will be marked as "no-pet zones" via a sign. If any player would like a sign for any personal areas, those can be issued at Public Works.

• If the pet shows any signs of aggression or fear, the owner and the pet may be asked to leave the site with no guarantee of refund. 

• If the owner elects to leave site due to their pet, there is no guarantee of refund.

• Any damage caused by the pet will be the sole responsibility of the owner who is required to pay for repairs.

• You may only stay overnight with the pet if you have been designated a pre-approved sleep space where everyone in that space has consented to a pet being in the area.

• Dystopia Rising Maryland is not responsible for the safety, health, etc. of your pet, even if a guide, staff, or player is temporarily watching the pet for you. The owner of the pet claims sole responsibility.

• Any other players bringing pets will also be notified of you bringing your pet
